Bed Bugs

There has been a recent resurgence of bed bugs in the United States due in large part to the increase in international and even domestic travel. Bed bugs are insects that feed on the blood of humans or animals. They are easily brought home after a stay in an infested bed. They can crawl into a suitcase or remain on the host. Bed bugs do not discriminate and an infestation is no reflection on the homeowner.

It is very difficult for a homeowner to identify a bedbug infestation in a home. Often times the only sign is a rash on the body of someone living in the house with no other explanation for why it will not go away. This rash is an allergic reaction to the bed bugs saliva which may not develop in every person. Other signs of an infestation are small blood markings on bedding or mattresses or empty molt skins found in the crease of the mattress or in the carpeting. Bed Bugs are difficult to see because they are very small in size and because they typically hide during the day and only come out at night.
